What will be your mission?

 

As a Lifeguard, you will be responsible for warning swimmers of inappropriate activities or hazards and enforcing pool rules and water safety policies.

What will you do?

 

  • Ensure beach/pool safety equipment is in place, including lifebuoys along the shore / around the pool; correct flag to be flown during opening hours; rescue surfboard/boat available on shore; first aid kit; posting of opening hours; pool depth; water & air temperatures; wind force & speed.
  • Keep designated and marked swimming areas clear of motorboats and similar craft, windsurfers and pedalos.
  • Ensure that swimmers are kept away from boat tracks or other dangerous areas.
  • Supervise the use of windsurfers and pedalos, including the checking in and out of guests, and monitor the actions of windsurfers and those engaged in other water activities while at sea.
  • Respond to all emergencies within the hotel and resort swimming areas, including ensuring that a lifeboat is available at all times.
  • Ensure that all water sports and pool activities are conducted in accordance with safety regulations.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

What are we looking for?

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience
  • Certified Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certificate, or equivalent
  • Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer, or equivalent
  • Red Cross Standard First Aid, or equivalentKnowledge and ability to evaluate water conditions at aquatics facilities, at the beach/ocean, or other offsite natural pools, streams, or rivers to determine any potential dangers or hazards
  • Ability to adjust programs as necessary to ensure the safety of the visitors and other staff
  • Swimming proficiency and comfort in all types of water conditions
  • Ability to judge and evaluate evolving dynamics of individuals participating in aquatic activities to immediately assess their capabilities and threats to their safety
  • Knowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
  • Knowledge of methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services
