Head of Maintenance - 38 hours - NH Hotel Schiphol Airport (80% admin, 20% hands-on)

Ready to take care of a large hotel and make sure everything works as it should? At NH Schiphol Airport, you will be technically responsible for a complex hotel with 419 rooms, conference facilities for up to 700 guests, an indoor swimming pool, gym, spa, and sauna. This requires solid experience in technical maintenance, team leadership, and building installations. You understand how heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, water, and mechanical systems work and know what it takes to keep a busy hotel safe and fully operational.
The role consists of approximately 80% planning, administration, coordination, and team management, and 20% hands-on technical work. You will lead a team of five technicians and become part of the hotel’s management team.

Your Role at a Glance
As Head of Maintenance, you ensure that all technical installations, hotel rooms, public areas, and back-of-house areas are safe and well maintained.
Your responsibilities include:

Leading and motivating a team of 5 technicians

Creating schedules, daily work plans, and maintenance plans

Coordinating breakdowns, repairs, and preventive maintenance

Managing external contractors for elevators, cooling systems, fire safety, sprinklers, and other installations

Supporting renovations and technical projects, including the implementation of a new Building Management System
-
Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, inspections, and legal requirements
-
Maintaining reports, maintenance records, and budgets
-
Identifying opportunities to reduce energy use and costs
-
Acting quickly in the event of technical failures or emergencies

Experience in hospitality or another guest-focused environment is an advantage.
What Makes You a Great Fit

Solid maintenance experience within a large hotel, hospital, commercial building, or a similar technical environment

Experience leading a technical team

Strong knowledge of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical systems, water systems, and mechanical equipment

Experience with mechanical building installations

Knowledge of relevant legal regulations, safety requirements, and inspections

Experience with maintenance planning, budgets, and cost control

A practical, proactive, and solution-focused approach

The ability to remain calm during technical failures and unexpected situations

Strong organisational and administrative skills
