People Manager (f/m/d) - The WestDill Mayfair Hotel London, Colbert Collection

Date:  Oct 28, 2026
Location:

London, GB United Kingdom

Department:  Human Resources

Set in the heart of Mayfair and housed within a distinguished Grade II listed building on Piccadilly, the hotel brings new life to a historic landmark through a refined, intimate hospitality experience.

Here, classical architecture meets contemporary culture. Designed for travelers drawn to culinary excellence, visual arts and genuine social connection, The WestDill offers a discreet retreat moments from London’s most iconic addresses.

Returning from the city, guests find an elegant gathering place where heritage, craftsmanship and conviviality come together with a modern expression of Mayfair, shaped by history and enlivened by conversation.

For the opening of The WestDill Mayfair Hotel London, Colbert Collection, we are seeking an experienced and passionate People Manager. As a trusted partner to the General Manager and leadership team, you will build our opening team from the very first hire and shape a culture where every colleague feels welcomed, valued and inspired – because the warmth our guests experience begins with how we care for one another. This position is a 12 month fixed contract.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead all People & Culture activities throughout the opening phase – including manning guide, organizational structure, recruitment timeline and People budgets – in close partnership with the General Manager and Regional People team
  • Attract, select and onboard an exceptional team, delivering a memorable candidate journey and induction programmes that bring the spirit of the Colbert Collection to life for every colleague
  • Ensure compliance with UK employment legislation (including Right to Work, working time, GDPR and the fair allocation of tips and service charge) and Minor Hotels policies, overseeing contracts, HR systems, payroll inputs and accurate employee records
  • Coach and advise leaders on all employee relations matters, including performance, absence, grievances, disciplinaries and investigations, ensuring fair, consistent and confidential handling
  • Drive learning, development, engagement and wellbeing, nurturing talent, creating clear career pathways within Minor Hotels and strengthening retention
  • Communicate our vision, values and business priorities to all colleagues, fostering open feedback and leading the colleague forum as the primary point of contact for employee representatives

How can you succeed in this role

  • Proven experience as a People Manager or in a similar role within a luxury hotel environment; pre-opening experience is highly desirable.
  • A genuine interest in the wellbeing and development of every colleague.
  • Sound, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and best practice; a CIPD qualification is an advantage.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to motivate, coach and develop high-performing teams.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a polished, approachable and discreet presence.
  • A passion for enhancing colleague wellbeing and guest satisfaction, combined with a strong focus on results and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities within a fast-paced luxury environment.
  • Confidence with HR systems and Microsoft Office, and a hands-on approach suited to an intimate, boutique hotel.
