JOB SUMMARY

 

The Director of Finance is the senior financial leader of the property and a key member of the Executive Committee. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this role is responsible for safeguarding hotel assets, ensuring financial integrity, maximizing profitability, and supporting strategic decision-making across the business.

 

Partnering with ownership, asset management, corporate finance, and department leaders, the Director of Finance drives sustainable financial performance while maintaining the highest standards of compliance, internal controls, and ethical conduct.

 

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

 

Financial Leadership & Business Strategy

 

  • Act as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and Executive Committee.
  • Lead the annual budget, monthly forecasting, long-range planning, and capital planning processes.
  • Drive financial performance through revenue optimization, cost management, profitability improvement, and cash flow management.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and business analyses to ownership, asset managers, and corporate leadership.
  • Identify opportunities to improve profitability while preserving luxury service standards.

 

Accounting, Controls & Compliance

 

  • Oversee all finance and accounting operations, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Income Audit, Payroll oversight, and cost controls.
  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with US GAAP, USALI, company policies, and ownership requirements.
  • Maintain a robust internal control environment that safeguards company assets.
  • Lead internal and external audits and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements.
  • Maintain financial records, contracts, leases, and insurance documentation.

 

Cash Management & Asset Protection

 

  • Manage cash flow, banking relationships, working capital, and credit policies.
  • Oversee capital expenditure tracking, FF&E reserves, and investment analysis.
  • Support ownership in evaluating strategic investments and capital projects.

 

Commercial Partnership

 

  • Partner with Revenue Management, Sales, Marketing, and Operations to maximize hotel performance.
  • Evaluate pricing strategies, market trends, competitive benchmarking, and business opportunities.
  • Provide financial analysis to support commercial decisions and revenue initiatives.

 

Risk Management & Governance

 

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Oversee insurance programs, contract reviews, vendor agreements, and financial risk management.
  • Ensure compliance with PCI-DSS and data privacy requirements.

 

Leadership & Team Development

 

  • Recruit, develop, and mentor a high-performing finance team.
  • Promote financial accountability and business acumen across all departments.
  • Foster a culture of integrity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

 

Hotel Openings & Special Projects

 

  • Support hotel openings, renovations, conversions, and repositioning projects.
  • Establish financial processes, controls, and reporting systems as required.
  • Lead special projects assigned by ownership, hotel leadership, or corporate finance.

 

 

EXPERIENCE

 

  • 8-10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience within hospitality.
  • 3-5 years in a senior finance leadership role such as Director of Finance, Assistant Director of Finance, or Financial Controller.
  • Luxury or upper-upscale hotel experience required.
  • Hotel opening, renovation, or transition experience preferred.
  • Experience working with ownership groups, asset managers, auditors, lenders, and corporate finance teams.
  • Proven success in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, compliance, and profitability improvement initiatives.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or related field.
  • CPA, CMA, MBA, or equivalent certification preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, USALI, hospitality financial reporting, internal controls, and audit practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
  • Experience with hospitality systems such as Opera, Micros/Simphony, SunSystems, Oracle, SAP, M3, ProfitSword, and other hotel ERP/PMS platforms.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Preopening experiencia prefiered

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

 

This is a full-time on-site leadership role based at the property. Flexibility is required to support month-end closing activities, ownership reporting deadlines, audits, hotel openings, major events, ownership visits, and peak operational periods, including occasional evenings and weekends.
